I hope I can make it through the day

I hope I can make it through the day

I woke up this morning on the wrong side
I don’t want to face the world I just want to hide
I had a fight with you and your words hurt deep
My mind raced all night I could barely sleep

I ask God to help in the words I pray
I don’t have any clue if it will be ok
I know it’s not over I don’t know what to say
I hope I can make it through the day

Work is even harder I can’t even think
Is it four o’clock yet I need a drink
I try to concentrate but my mind will wander
I think about my life with you and ponder
Push myself through with my will
Look at the clock as time seems to stand still

I ask God to help in the words I pray
I don’t have any clue if it will be ok
I know it’s not over I don’t know what to say
I hope I can make it through the day

I leave punch out meet friends at our favorite spot
To raise a little hell and open my heart
They listen give advice and make some cheer
I make a tough decision now its all clear
We got to change our life with a couple of things
So we’ll be together forever and see what the future brings

I ask God to help in the words I pray
I don’t have any clue if it will be ok
I know it’s not over I don’t know what to say
I hope I can make it through the day

I head home to you as fast as I can
So we can get started on our new plan
Leave lies deception all behind
We need truth love happiness and always be kind
Remember that for each other you are my number one friend
Lets get passed it so we can start over again

I thank God with the words I pray
I know now it will be ok
I love you and there’s nothing more to say
I’m glad I made it through the day

Breathing Tapestry

"Breathing Tapestry" ~~~ "Tapestry" inspired a multitude of vast emotions As Carole King carved melodies on white piano keys "So Far Away" inclined sweet thoughts crossing wide blue oceans As my pen ignited words of pleasant poetry. Her haunting music radiates those lines of "It's Too Late" Each fusion stirred the depth of writers bliss Feeling "the Earth move under my feet" dealing pain's heartbreak "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" ceased to end without a kiss. The "Tapestry" of Life and Love are always beautiful After full circle they find their way "Home Again" Crafting words a writer shares so everlasting fruitful For "Where You Lead" the words follow inspiring a creative pen.

What it that I see

What it that I see

What is it that I see?
Out of the corner of my eye
A fleeting shadow
Is it real?
A glimpse into another universe?
Imagination?
I think I saw my cat
She died some years ago.
Can I reach across?
Could I, can I stay?
How wonderful if so
No need to grieve
Our lost ones are still there,
In the multiverse.
Some other parallel scheme.
Can I reach my long lost baby sister?
I never knew her
She died before her birth
So sad.
I didn’t even know that she was there
On my Mother’s death I found her
In her papers.
Her name was Lindy
And I’ve always wanted a sister
What is it that I see?
Out of the corner of my eye
A fleeting shadow
If only this was real
I could reach my long lost baby sister

Unknown Heroes

Unknown Heroes

Thank God for Them,
They who help those less fortunate than they.
They who assist the mentally challenged
struggling with the pressures of life everyday.
Where would we be without Them,
these unknown heroes who give us hope?
There are so many lost, so many confused,
so many unable to cope.
Few recall the social worker
who helped find many homeless a home,
or the psychologist who assured the depressed
that they need not face hardship alone,
or the psychiatrist whose medicine helped
to bring many lost souls back to earth.

They All Should Be Honored,
because whatever they're paid,
certainly can't be what they're worth.

Unknown Heroes
The Lost Verse - To Kamar

I've known many such heroes throughout my life,
but among them, one shines, as does the brightest star.
This tribute is for you, along with my eternal thanks.
It's a privilege to have known you, Kamar.

A Child Got Married Part 2

A Child Got Married Part 2

                                   "A Child Got Married." (Part 2 )

A child raped at fourteen A child with child at sixteen A child lost a child at eighteen Still a child married at eighteen.

She met a young man named Larry And finally accepted to marry him
She is in heaven dreaming of a life Just being a good wife At last no more alone
She’ll have her man a home of her own.

Revealing his love while giving her hope He convinced her the same day to elope Even with no horses or carriage and not Being a bride in white She still had the honeymoon and marriage.

Closing her eyes feeling everything will be bright When at the end of this day and during the night They will be husband and wife. Laying side by side on a silk bed to share their love As already she was a woman in love.

Their home was on top of a hill Everything so quiet and still
She woke up early at dawn Running outside to sit on the lawn
Feeling the cool breeze While watching the birds on the trees
Twittering to each other their love song believing this is
where she’ll belong Forever and ever.

Two years passed so fast When pregnant she became at last
Her happiness was so everlasting when Nine months later she gave birth
To a most beautiful baby boy on earth She asked her husband
if she can name him “JOY”

Dozing off feeling so peaceful Knowing she’ll wake up with a smile on her face As her baby Joy was going to help her erase All the bad memories of her past.

Her coming days and months were so busy She realized that it hadn’t been easy with Larry Especially he didn’t look happy nor merry He started drinking day and night That’s when she felt something was not right.

One night she begged him Please Larry tell me ! talk to me! Larry I am your wife She was crying so strong he wiped away her tears But knew he couldn’t wipe away her fears.

He pulled her close to the fence Where it was dim with no lights
For her not to see his tears or fears Kissing her and holding her so tight
Bidding her a Farewell.

He ran racing inside Hurrying to end his life With the tie around his neck He pulled hard As he only knew In just a few days His sickness will attack All his body And take away all his power He decided to Die.

You see my shining face. You speak my glorious name.

Open the Door

You see my shining face.
You speak my glorious name.
Still you stand, firmly in place.

You try to bypass me,
Forging artificial keys.
As the turtle wins the race!

I have thrown you verse after verse,
Wonder after wonder!
Still you think the universe began
From one great asunder!
You act like there is no
Beauty to behold anymore,
I'm all that you need,
I gave you the key,
So open the door!

Plug your ears when I call,
Surrounding yourself with walls,
Built upon your ignorance.

I watch while you stumble
On such slippery rubble.
You ask not, my assistance!

It is you yourself
That made this world, black and bleak.
I've created bridges,
But you're the one with feet!
You act like there is no
Beauty to behold anymore,
I'm all that you need,
I gave you the key,
So open the door!

You left my shining home,
And upon the Earth you roamed.
Now just ahead is my gate.

With great uncertainty,
You come limply before me,
Be blessed, for it's not too late!

I've died a-midst a mocking crowd
And came back from the grave.
As I gave up my heavenly abode
To show you the way!
You act like there is no
Beauty to behold anymore,
I'm all that you need,
I gave you the key,
So open the door!

Magic

Magic

Magic is the spell she weaves with her eyes, a smile
And a touch at day's end.

The children breathe their wonders out of their dreams
Into my grownup soul as I watch them there, just lying asleep
As the trees sigh secrets old as earth
In the language of leaves swaying in the soft summer wind
Outside, beneath the endless sky all full of distant diamonds,
Worlds beyond number dancing a great wheel dance
Slow and majestic with them,
Falling forever through the velvet blackness.

Magic is thunder and sunlight and water,
The thousand thousand songs born of the spirit of life
The tapestry woven and yet weaving itself
Across all this most marvelous small world;
It is the fact of our being, and the unspoken thoughts
That transcend all speech, to make one whole
Of the multitudes moving across it.

This is Magic - not hat tricks, nor conjurations
But the incantations of heartbeats and parents' prayers
And the birth of hopes by candlelight and moonglow -
The wish for all to be well; the belief that it will.

Magic, like home, is a feeling,
A respect for the Oneness beneath all things,
A wanting to remember this with appreciation,
A hope to do well and wish well for all,
Through all our numbered days.

Settle this in your heart,
And you and I and all the world
Are Magic.

Table Mountain

Table Mountain

She's covered
in clouds today
looks like the table is set
in all her glory,
ready to entertain
with its prettiest
decoration ever
just a sign of
the cape doctor
on its way
ready to blow
away all the smog
and dirt this city can muster
what an awesome sight
when she welcomes
the sun in the morning…
What would Cape Town
be without Table Mountain?
A city without a soul...

THOUGHTS WHILE THE INK WAS DRYING

THOUGHTS WHILE THE INK WAS DRYING

The day just past my head was filled with you,
Inside the realm of thoughts that keep and hold
A common goal, what else was I to do
But sit and smile as lambs do in the fold.

For when you come and near yourself to me
I feel the lonely wait well worth the time,
For with my eyes I wish for you to see
And do extend my hand and heart to thine.

Your feeling touch it warms me, flames my soul
To warmth of lovers loving life, and you
With the beauty found within the whole
Of things to share, I'd like with you to do.

The theme these words have woven true, I wish
For you to know I feel them like a kiss.

The Deaf Hearts

The Deaf Hearts

I'm jabbed at my side with plummet and jab, and yet I must grin and bear it,
I'm abhorrent with scorn for those who must mourn, but then I indifferently swear
it.
Pathos and play this is the new way to read past a cover,
But to sured dismay this supposed display is nothing but a buffer.
Acceptance in many, a noble pursuit but is it worh scrupulous losses,
For every companion is lost in a canyon of lacerated crosses,
For sin and lamehnt are the only avail when deceit is a popular practice,
Honor and grace can prove ugly in taste for those who apparently lack this,
Jest in the cruel and pain in the righteous seem to be the new standard,
So why not be masses with sections and classes and measures of Lucre as
spirit,
The reason is subtle it's muffled in evil, but one can still hear it beating,
Through hunger and death, bloodshed and stress that seems to incumbent the
streets,
The beat of one's own heart, it has all the answers to questions regarding the
spirit,
It's written in code for angels and God so only who listen will hear it,
To the sainted listerners, it's an astute obligation, to grin and bear the malice tht
the deaf hearts do commit,
For at one time or another, we have done unto our brother in a contradictory
fashion that what he would have us do,
So we have to keep on sinning and never cease our grinning, when we really
want to burst into a burning flame of hate,
For others haven't heard the news, that not to be true to yourself is to lose,
So priviledged few, that have a clue, will simply have to wait.

Emerging Writers

A lump fills my throat as I think about what the upcoming school year has planned for me. You know that feeling you get when reluctant tears just won’t fall? Yeah, that’s me in a nutshell right now. I'm excited to teach writing again, but at the same time apprehensiveness boggles my mind.
For the second year, my principal has assigned me as the fourth grade lead teacher. I am confident that I can successfully be a great mentor and leader, so that's not where my issue lies.  The Scylla and Charybdis is having three new teachers on my team who will be tossed in the fiery furnace with 20-plus students who know nothing about writing. On top of that, these enthusiastic educators are expected to work miracles! How's that for your first year?
My new colleagues know that they have to prepare our great students to be writers, something that's typically not done until these jewels reach fourth grade. This brings me to my next point. Why aren't we successfully preparing our students to write? Why is it that 4th grade students don't know how to compose a sentence or even know that a sentence ends in punctuation for that matter? Where have we, as educators, gone wrong, and what can we do to fix this? It's a team effort, and it starts at the top.
Administrators realize the severity and importance of writing sometimes when it's a tad bit too late. It's when those failing scores come back that they ask, "What must we do?" Well, I'll tell ya-- start writing literacy early! This simple suggestion isn't difficult to understand. Introducing writing at the early elementary level is key to shaping and molding our students to be auspicious learners. Implementing a school wide writing program is necessary if we want our students to be accomplished writers. This program needs to be closely monitored to ensure fidelity. It's not okay for Mrs. Johnson, a first grade teacher, to issue a journal topic once every quarter if the program clearly states that first graders should compose narrative stories monthly. Nor is it ok for Mr. Williams, a fourth grade teacher, to allow his students to write half a page (for what was supposed to be a full expository story) and deem it acceptable. Educational leaders should set expectations for new implementations and reprimand accordingly. Enough about what our administrators should do. How can classroom teachers make the difference? After all, we are responsible for teaching our students and expanding their knowledge. Let’s not fail them.
So you think, “Great! You want me to teach writing, too?” It’s no secret that classroom teachers are swamped with to-do lists, directives and deadlines. The thought of adding another extremity to your already over-crowded daily schedule may seem absurd. But our students so desperately need it. Even if you haven’t been asked to, per se, teach students this beautiful art, will you grant them justice and do it anyway?
Writing is a powerful tool. Not only does it improve students’ penmanship, but “[it] supports development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills” (Carpol, 2013). Through writing, students learn processes, which benefits other aspects of their learning.Planning, organizing, researching and peer review can help students make connections to what they’re learning in their other courses. Research also suggests that writing aids in social and emotional development. If a student is experiencing a life-changing event, writing can help them cope as they release their feelings on paper with their favorite writing utensil. Also, “since writing requires the student to consider audience and purpose, [constant] practice can help the student apply the same considerations to verbal communication” (Carpol, 2013). Second grade HISD teacher, Lena Henton, agrees. “There’s a direct correlation between oral and written development. Often times, students speak how they write. Usually if they have well-developed oratory skills, it carries over to their written linguistic ability.”

Importance of Education in Society

Education, if looked at beyond its conventional boundaries, forms the very essence of all our actions. What we do is what we know and have learned, either through instructions or through observation and assimilation. When we are not making an effort to learn, our mind is always processing new information or trying to analyze the similarities as well as the tiny nuances within the context which makes the topic stand out or seem different. If that is the case then the mind definitely holds the potential to learn more, however, it is us who stop ourselves from expanding the horizons of our knowledge with self-doubt or other social, emotional, or economic constraints.

While most feel that education is a necessity, they tend to use it as a tool for reaching a specific target or personal mark, after which there is no further need to seek greater education. Nonetheless, the importance of education in society is indispensable and cohering, which is why society and knowledge cannot be ever separated into two distinct entities. Let us find out more about the role of education in society and how it affects our lives.

Purpose of Education in Society

Education is Self Empowerment
Receiving a good education helps empower you, thus making you strong enough to look after yourself in any given situation. It keeps you aware of your given surrounding as well as the rules and regulations of the society you're living in. It's only through knowledge that you can be able to question authority for its negligence or discrepancies. It is only then that you can avail your rights as a citizen and seek improvement in the structural functioning of governance and economy. It's only when a citizen is aware about the policies of its government can he be able to support or protest the change. As a whole, people can bring about development only when they know where improvement is necessary for the greater good of mankind. Education helps you understand yourself better, it helps you realize your potential and qualities as a human being. It helps you to tap into latent talent, so that you may be able to sharpen your skills.

Tips Online Students Need to Succeed

Pursuing a distance education, though convenient, will come with a few challenges. Before commencing any course, students should always ensure that they dive in with a disciplined mindset, otherwise it will be a waste of time and energy.

According to a study posted by the National Center for Education Statistics, only 54% of students who enrolled in college in the year 1997, graduated six years later. That's a staggering figure of non-graduates. New students will want to avoid being a part of this statistic. So, to avoid being on cruise control throughout a two-four year quest for higher education, we've listed a few tips below to help students succeed with online college degrees:
  •     Practice Good Time Management - If there were thirty hours in one day, it still wouldn't be enough without a plan. To get the most productive 24 hour day, check off the time you currently work, then schedule designated times to focus solely on studies. Students that are working may prefer free times during the weekend to unload chunks of study, or others may prefer spacing it out over the week to finish course materials and assignments. One of the greatest benefits of an online college education is flexibility, so what really matters is a routine that students can fall into for completing weekly goals.
  •     Do Not Procrastinate - Many of us, even non-students, fall for the ever-present trap of delay. It's up to online students to make study time a priority. Time scheduled should not be prolonged by a favorite show or game. Just get on with your studies, one page or one sentence at a time - pacing yourself as you go along.
